This release is about the first hour. Opening Eutepio for the first time used to leave
you with an empty library and a "+" button that explained nothing. Now the app asks two
questions and you have something to try straight away.
A two-screen setup#
The first screen asks how you play — on your own, in a band, or leading one. The
second asks what you want to see while playing: chords, lyrics only, or sheet music
and pages. Your name and instrument are optional, and you pick the language and
appearance right at the start rather than hunting for them in settings later.
Then you choose what to begin with: the sample, a song of your own, or — if you play in
a band — a concert file somebody sent you.
A sample song you can try everything on#
The sample has its own lyrics, sheet music as a PDF and a photo of the page, so you
can walk through every stage view without importing anything. Remove it when you no
longer need it — and bring it back if you change your mind.
Home also gained a First steps card, and the stage shows short hints the first time
you open it.
"+" asks where the song comes from#
The button used to open an empty form. Now it offers what you actually want:
- Find it online and Write it by hand as two large cards
- and below them Paste a link, Text from a file, Sheet music from a file and
Read from a photo
A long press on "+" opens an empty song directly, for when you already know.
The song form itself is now tabbed — Song, Lyrics and chords, Sheet music, Backing track
and More — instead of one long scroll.
Sheet music sharp at any zoom#
Sheet music (MusicXML) has been rebuilt from the ground up. It is sharp at any zoom,
two fingers reflow it, and the Sheet music on white paper option draws it black on
white when a dark stage does not suit a score.
PDFs and photos now zoom where your fingers are, not towards the middle of the
screen. On a computer, Ctrl and the wheel work, as do Ctrl + plus, minus and zero. PDFs
gained a Whole page option, where the pedal turns pages.
Editing from a computer: confirm each new computer on your phone#
This one is a security change. A key used to be enough — whoever had it was in. Now
every new computer makes your phone speak up, show that computer's address and wait
for you to let it in. Until then the page says it is waiting for confirmation.
On top of that, editing turns itself off after 30 minutes of inactivity, and text
you are in the middle of writing survives a save.
Also fixed#
- Switching between ChordPro and chords above the text and back no longer changes
the song
- You leave the sheet music and chord browser with the ✕ at the top
You can go back#
A backup from 0.4.2 opens in 0.4.1, and the band works across both versions, so you do
not all have to update at once.
The app is at version
0.4.2 (build 20). The full list of changes is in the
changelog, and the links to install it are on the
download page.
